The Magician’s Wife
Italian. Magic. Grammar.
I think I’m in love.
Unfortunately, she’s married. To a magician. In Italy.
Anyway, Daniela emailed me a couple days ago, just to introduce herself and say hello. Her blog looks like it’s going to be an interesting project. It’s fun to read about the world of magic from the perspective of an assistant and “better half.”
Here’s an excerpt:
Even when I’m in the office, my magical husband manages to keep me up to date of his progresses. So I receive a text message “Tonight there’s a surprise for you!”
My female fantasy starts to run wild. Will there be a present for me? What could it be? Shall we be going out for dinner? Or to see a film maybe? The wait for the mysterious surprise fills my day and I’m impatient to know what it is.
At last I get back home, he takes my hand, drags me in the kitchen and… shows me three wonderful variations of the famous three cards trick! The expression “domestic violence” starts to light up in my mind like a neon sign, but I remain calm and say nothing, leaving him wondering all night long what he could have done so wrong.
